Our member company, the Hamburg engineering company TECHNOLOG GmbH, has received an order from HAPAG-LLOYD to carry out the world's first conversion of a large container ship to liquid gas propulsion (LNG).
On 19 December 2018, the revised "Directive on Subsidies for Inland Waterway Transport Companies for the Sustainable Modernisation of Inland Waterway Vessels" was published in the Federal Gazette. It entered into force on 1 January 2019 and expires on 31 December 2019. It thus merely represents a revision and one-year extension of the funding directive that has existed since 2015.
The funding programme “Innovative shipbuilding ensures competitive jobs” of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is also being continued in 2018. The new funding guideline follows on directly from the preceding regulation, which ended on December 31st 2017, and creates the legal framework for future funding in this area.
